Medvedev and Tsitsipas back in Marseille

Despite the on going world pandemic, the 29th edition of the Open 13 Provence will take place. Two of the actual fittest players will headline the field : Daniil Medvedev and double title holder Stefanos Tsitsipas.

It's a tradition since 1993, the Open 13 Provence welcomes every year the « creme de la creme » of world tennis. And even though this year the tournament is slightly postponed, the 2021 edition will not differ from the previous ones. 3 top 10 players will be performing on the courts of the Palais des Sports de Marseille as of the 8th of March, one of which will be Stefanos Tsitsipas, number 6 in the world and two time tilte holder. For his 5th participation, the Greek could join Marc Rosset, Thomas Enqvist and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the exclusive triple winners club. « Stef » would however be the only one to have achieved this exploit three consecutive years.

The second top 10 player, first in ranking, is Daniil Medvedev (4). The Russian is one of the hottest players on tour at the moment and is actually on a 15 match winning streak since his first round at the Paris Masters 1000 last fall.

The third Top 10 is Matteo Berretini, ranked 10th in the world. He will not be the only Italian in the draw as the hopeful and very talented Jannick Sinner will also be in Marseille.

Four past champions !

Karen Khachanov, winner in 2018, Marin Cilic, Kei Nishikori, Feliciano Lopez, Jan Lennard Struff and others will complete this once again, amazing field.

As per the French representation, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, winner in 2009, 2013 and 2017 (a sign for 2021?) will make his most awaited comeback. Gilles Simon, like Tsitsipas, will be aiming for a third title in Marseille after 2007 and 2015. Finally Ugo Humbert, whom had his breakthrough season last year (2 titles) will be wanting to confirm his great results.

So who will be the 2021 champion ? See you on March 8th.
