For the thirtieth anniversary of the Open 13 Provence, world-class players are already looking forward to lifting the Marseille trophy in early 2023. Indeed, six players from the Top 30 in the world (including 5 former Top 10) and a three-time Grand Slam winner are expected to take to the courts of the Palais des Sports in Marseille!
Starting with one of the revelations of this year 2022, the Dane Holger Rune who recently triumphed over Novak Djokovic at the Rolex Paris Masters. The 19 year old player, who still has an impressive margin for improvement, intends to build on his good momentum at the end of the year... Enough to aim for the title?
As for Jannik Sinner, he wants to forget his last minute withdrawal in 2022 due to the COVID-19 and will come with the same intention as for every tournament: to go as far as possible! Currently ranked 15th in the world, the 21 year old Italian has just had one of the best seasons of his career by reaching the quarter finals of three Grand Slam tournaments. He should be counted on this year.
The draw will be completed by Hubert Hurkacz, world number 10. Semi-finalist at Wimbledon in 2021 and winner of the Halle tournament last summer, the Pole will participate for the third time in the Open 13 Provence, a tournament where he dreams of adding his name to the list of winners.
A surprise guest in the semi-finals a few months ago at the US Open, Karen Khachanov will once again set foot on the Marseille courts after his last visit two years ago. A player who will have to be followed closely as we know his qualities in indoor tennis.
For his part, Stan Wawrinka, three-time Grand Slam winner, will also be present at the Open 13 Provence 2023! The Swiss, whose last season was complicated by repeated injuries, wants to reach the top again, as he has been chasing a new title for the last 5 years.
Finally, there are two players to keep an eye on: Grigor Dimitrov, also known as "Baby Fed", winner of the 2017 London Masters and former world number 3, who will be one of the obvious headliners in this 31st edition. As well as Australian Alex de Minaur, who has had a huge season with 47 victories, and who is hoping to beat the odds...
Like every year, the Open 13 Provence is going to be exciting. But maybe even more so this year for the 30th anniversary ... !
