Tsitsipas as boss

Just like his opponent at the top of the draw - Daniil Medvedev -, Stefanos Tsitsipas started the tournament with a bang and in this second round match against Lucas Pouille. Thanks to a delicious counter-shot, among other things, the Greek quickly broke 3-0. At 4-1, the world number 5 managed to break again against Lucas Pouille, who showed great power but was often the first to give up in the exchange. However, the northerner, young father of a little Rose, managed to recover one of the two breaks before losing it again in the process. That was the end of the first set, which Stefanos Tsitsipas won without a hitch at 6-2.

In the second set, Lucas Pouille began to show signs of improvement. Unfortunately for the Frenchman, down 3-2, he finally conceded when he had opportunities to equalise at 3-3. The white game that followed gave Tsitsipas a comfortable lead and he just had to seal the deal. A last game for the honour of Lucas Pouille, then "Stef" brilliantly concludes with a new white game, 6-2 6-3 in 1h04.

In the quarter-finals, it is another Frenchman, Pierre-Hugues Herbert, who will have the honour of challenging the Greek, seeded second and two-time winner in Marseille.
