Del Potro champion

Del Potro champion

Juan Martin Del Potro is the new king of Marseille. The Argentine got the best of Michael Llodra 6-4, 6-4 in 1h22.

It was a full house for the finale match of the week between the Argentine and Michael Llodra, who was playing his third final in Marseille. The match woudl be levelled under one condition : Llora would need to have a quality first serve.

The first scare for llodra is at 30-40 in the fifth game. But thanks to an ace, the break point is successfully defended. On the other hand, Del Potro is never threatend on his serve. Maybe the 88% first serve in the first set is the reason for that.

Under pressure, Llodra finally breaks down in the ninth game. After an easy miss on the forehand, "Mika" then misses a half volley and concedes his service game. Del Potro then serves out the set without a shake.

The second set scenario is a carbon copy of the first. The Argentine is stil picture perfect on his first serve (73% on the match), too much for llodra to handle. The break in favor of the tower of Tandill is this time in the fifth game. Llodra avoids falling double break behind as on his next service game he finds himself trailing love-40. The Frenchman manages to stay alive and hold serve.

The hold allows Llodra to hope, but not for long. At 5-4 serving for the match, Del Potro, for the first time in the week, showed some signs of emotion when he started off the game with a double fault. He regroups quickly and from then on thats all she wrote.
