Michael Llodra defeated the likes of Robin Soderling 7-6(2) 6-4 in 1h26
On paper, Robin Soderling was clear favorite to move into the semi-finals. However the truth of the court is all that matters, and today it contrasted with that of the court. In the first set, both big servers held their own until the tie breaker. Llodra was the first to commit an error by dropping his serve on a double fault but on the very next point, the Frenchman got his mini-break back when Soderling committed an unforced error. Up 3-2, Llodra benefited of two more unforced errors from a Soderling who had trouble remaining focused. The Parisian, up 5-2, served an ace and followed with an overhead smash to capture the first set.
The second set started as well as the first one ended for "Mika" as he broke Soderling immediately. Last years runner-up consolidated to take a 2-0 advantage. With he quality of the lefties first serve, a break advantage was sufficient to capture the set and the match. Final score 7-6(2) 6-4.
